Finding Her Place...Imagine, being born a desert-dweller in an Aluvian town. How dare my parents! Was this some sort of joke?! Seeking adventure, my parents moved from their native desert to the (gosh darned most) northern town of Holtburg. I was born there...and quickly left when I was of age. I did not even stay to witness the birth of my younger brother, Voyyrn al' Adeed. I still regret not being there with him in his youth....we are quite distant from each other now.
My early travels brought me to the bustling Sho town of Shoushi. I learned about the infamous Green Mire Grave, and where to find the beautiful Ice Tachi nearby. I made my way to the place where I had heard the Ice Tachi would be, and another small group of adventures where already waiting for the Mosswart Who Held the Ice Tachi. I was so young...so weak. I think they had pity on me, but nonetheless, they allowed me to stay. I helped take down a few mossies of my own with my trusty plain yari, and the big boys were most impressed with me.
Two of the gentlemen I fought with that day were named Oda Nobunaga, a young but quickly-rising Monarch; and Kasura, his vassal and most trusted companion. After getting into an argument with my then-Patron, who shall remain nameless, he dismissed me. I was relieved, actually. No one really liked him (and no one really does now, to the best of my knowledge.) The next day, after wandering around Shoushi, listening to people talk....I decided I wanted to visit this Green Mire place. I was fairly running in my excitement towards the place, and about knocked Kasura down in passing. We stopped and talked with each other for a loooong time. Lord Oda's fledgling group was called the Brotherhood of the Five Rings, I came to find out. Kasura was the #2 man in charge. I had developed a real respect for Kasura, and told him about how my former Patron had dismissed me. He consoled me, and offered any assistance to me whatsoever if I ever needed it from him. I asked him right then and there if I could be his vassal, and he was most shocked. He said he didn't mean for me to think that that's what he meant, but if I wanted to, he would be honored to have me. He accepted my oath, and I then became Sister Turall al' Adeed. (I was Kasura's first vassal, and I am still with him. He is the best in Dereth!)
Lord Oda, Kasura, myself, and several other Brothers traveled around the area of Shoushi...Shoushi being the base of operations for the Brotherhood. We had a pretty good time, gaining levels, killing monsters, getting nice treasure, and basically making Dereth a better place. Nothing out of the ordinary. The Brotherhood was growing...slowly but surely. I started adventuring with an older warrior by the name of Kelorian Rax. He and I became good friends...and started hinting at more...but then he retired to his family's farm in Rithwic to help his aging parents. Right soon afterwards, I met a new Brother, pledged directly to Oda. His name was Tae Kubeta.....the most quirkiest, sarcastic, irritating...and to top it all off....mage....I had ever laid eyes on. I was about instantly smitten. I made sure I went in whatever group he was going in, and we soon were trading jokes and insults - flirting heavily, basically. This was it, I thought. He is the one! I was quite smug with myself....thinking I had him wrapped around my little finger. I was breezing through my now-hometown of Shoushi, when I overheard him "just trading spells" with another lady. A Sister, no less! My jealousy got the better of me...and I made a total fool of myself. I was enraged, saddened, and my heart was broken....all those feelings colliding together created quite a tongue-lashing for poor Tae. He was taken aback, to put it mildly. He told me he had never thought..never dared dream...that a warrior like myself would fall in love with him, a lowly mage. I reassured him that I had indeed....and the outpouring of his emotions for me in return was breathtaking! He asked me to marry him shortly afterwards. We are still awaiting our wedding date, to this day.
Meanwhile, my place in the Brotherhood was slowly starting to emerge. I loved talking to people, to new recruits - anyone. I began putting into writing the Brotherhood's policies and beliefs. Days on end I sat in the Spire of Serenity in Shoushi, most of the time on the balcony overlooking the city. My hands stayed covered in ink from my tireless writings. I watched the world go by me, but I knew what I was doing was for the greater benefit of the Brotherhood. Finally, what I had been waiting for happened - I was named an Officer within the Brotherhood! Director of Public Relations and Recruitment, my title. All the Brothers now looked to me for many things! I began collecting names of vassals, and began to keep track of all our Brothers with an allegiance tree. I gathered email addresses, to send Brotherhood-related emails. I had finally found my place!
And I am still in it.
Many people look now to me for answers, both within and out of the Brotherhood. I keep track of all our nearly 200 Brothers. I am one of the highest ranking Officers within the Brotherhood (I say I'm #3, after Lord Oda and Kasura, but I don't have that official yet!), and the highest total ranked Sister of the Brotherhood (I'm Rank 4). My Level isn't the highest of our Sisters (I'm only 21st), but I am the one who has been there the longest (since about Level 3 for me personally, and when the Brotherhood had only about ten-twenty members), has the most followers (fifty-three at last count), and the most "pull" with all the other Brothers (I have a lot!).
I think I've done quite well, a Gharu'ndim Holtburgian that calls a Sho town her home.
